promotional tool

foals in hmv yesterday, was niice. they truly are a great band. and they encourage stealing. immoral? hell, it's only hmv, they have enough. i was tempted to, but every single cd in my reach was queen. nothing wrong with queen but..... hey, not worth it.
onto white light. guess an update is sorely in need of being typed. new drummers auditioned soon. exciting stuff. another gig soon. more exciting stuff. i think we will also get into a more regualr pattern of practicing soon aswell, we certainly need to.

in other news, me and harry have been writing a disco song; i'm moving to london next year to be an art student; the last few weeks has brought an influx of great new albums, which is cool since it had been ages since i bought a cd; and that's it.

ohhhh this is painful.

too long.

i think this may be my last post, i'm sort of not liking writing this anymore. it feels a bit fake. we'll see.

bye for now.

Past and the Near Future

Time to brush off the dust and write something new. Firstly, I've had no pancakes today, and didn't even know it was pancake day untill chris moyles told me this morning. Then he played Fratellis, and ruined my journey. I'm finding him gradually more and more annoying. Secondly... Don't know why I'm doing this numerically....anyway... me and jo are rekindling BFF status. Because we rock. And nothing rocks better than me and jo talking crap. On a totally unrelated subject, I have been listening to Patrick Wolf quite a bit lately, he's so good.

So. Some news... any news?..?..? God my life is interesting. Screw the past. I am going to New York on saturday, so lets lok forward. New York last year was amzing, a very significant week in my life, and possible the best place I've been to ever. Possibly. So, I'm going again, and I cannot wait.

Before that, I am travelling to London all on my own on thursday. This will be nice I'm sure.

My paragraphs are getting smaller and smaller............ by the way, we are playing at the wenns in good old kings lynn on 4th april.. a while away I know, but it's our first gig in lynn, so all you lynners who couldn't get to norwich must come see us. We'll be playing an extended set I should think, with lots of lovely covers thrown in for everyone to sing along to. Any suggestions? I've got some in mind.. they are probably crap suggestions, but hey oh well.

Anyway, that's all for now. Goodbye.

New Year, "New" Song..

Hi... I've just uploaded a new song on my music profile.. It's actually not a new song, but a rather old song that I wrote over a year ago when we moved into our new house and I was looking out the window at street lamps, which were things I weren't used to seeing so much out in good old Terrington (we lived right out the way...). Anyway, this is probably the third r fourth version of the song, I've never been able to get it quite right, and it'll probably end up changing again... this version has a bit that i sort of borrowed from another song that i love... wouldn't say it's outright copying.. guess all my songs are formed in this way in one way or another.

Moving on...

If you get a minute (or four) have a listen to the song.. and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! rather belated, but oh well.

M.I.A. coming back with POWER POWER

M.I.A gig yesterday was pretty legendary. After the fake snow and dressing up of CSS on Monday it really has been an awesome week. M.I.A crowd surfed next to us and got loads of people up on stage, me included, and put on an intense show. We also got a free horn to blow like crazy throughout. Also got to see the amazing Santogold, who had some rather cool dancers accompanying her.

TTSF

So, TTSF. Not a bad day really. Cool venue, don't know if we really fitted in all that well though. no matter, we played our set, didn't go too badly. Wasn't as lively as I thought it would be all in all, but we drank nice cider and saw some good bands. Ended up sleeping in the car. Not the best thing to do I must say. Seems to be becoming a bit of a habit...

Simple things

I walked past Faris Rotter today outside King's Cross. He went into Pret a Manger as we had just left.

Hi.

Long time no speak. Too much to try and put into words now... PARTYING! and GIGGING! and I think we're playing the tilting sky all dayer, that'll be awesome. Last week i saw hadouken, they were actually pretty good, outdid my expectations. One of the support bands were particularly awesome, they danced lots, and they had a really cool, overlong name. Yesterday I saw KATE NASH... she didn't play caroline's a victim though. Which made me sad. Metronomy supported, they were hot as expected. On the way home we had a mini feast at a tescos service station and chavved it up in the car park with trick or treatz pumping through my pathetic car speakers. Shut Your Eyes and You'll Burst Into Flames. That was the name of the cool band.

....

KILLAHH.

Mary Shelley and broken converse

In a warehouse, two sports cars straight out of the fast and the furious. One was purple with the silver surfer on the side. People trying to jump into the cars, i open the door and slide in. Racing and drifting in the warehouse to gangster music; the cars disappear and I'm dancing, people are watching, I walk around the partition then come back again, dancing again. I have to leave, to go to the rival gang hut at the other end of the beach. I step outside to a heavy storm, it is dark, it is too much. I put my converse on, my feet go straight through the bottom. I call someone over, tell them I have to leave for something important. Walk along the promenade in the storm, feet get wet, people trying to control the raging tides, lots of drama. The beach is busy. I reach the other end of the beach, it is light and the storm is gone, looking back I see the black clouds jumping down on to the sea violently, there are tornadoes. But it is a distant place now. I am on the balcony of a cafe - it is Frankenstein cafe, attached to the mary shelley hotel. "You don't want the noodles do you? She had everything, but you're not bothered are you?" Well, yes, I am actually, I thought to myself. "Why are things in beach shops so expensive? 35 pounds for a homemade ankle bracelet?" I suppose they have to make a living, I said. And besides, people accept it, so the prices will never drop. Next I am in a small room, Death On The Stairs is playing. I put my shoes on and go to climb out of the window, but the roof is too far to reach, I don't think I will make it.

Last night we played another gig at the queen charlotte, once again not many people but was ok, played our new song live for the first time, after much practicing in the beer garden... And saw Graffiti Sun and danced like lunatics. Check out the pictures on Flickr and you'll see just how much fun we had.

London tomorrow, can't wait. Started a new band in free period today, called Thunder Thunder. I've decided we are going to be neo-classicist thrash. Watch this space.

Shotter's Nation

Just listened to a new Babyshambles song, "The Lost Art of Murder" from their new album. Heard it a while back when Pete Doherty performed it on jonathon ross, and I think it is possibly one of the best songs of this year. Definitely a return to form for him. On this note I am going to compile a list of the five best songs i've heard this year so far... this is partly due to my boredom... anyways:

1.All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem
2.The Next Untouchable - Cajun Dance Party
3. Birds - Kate Nash
4.TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY - Justice
5. The Lost Art of Murder - Babyshambles

Followed ever so closely by Down Boy by Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Looking at, its actually quite a melancholy list. Maybe that says something about me. I anyone actually reads this, leave us a comment on our myspace of your five best songs this year, would be interesting to see what you come up with.

Trowse Fest - Skeletons and Mayonnaise

Today we played at trowse "t" festival, a rather random affair with a dog show and bands. The day started promising, with yet another time change for our set, followed by chips with extra mayonnaise - "friendship in a sauce". Oh yes. Hours we're filled with weird conversations and football, and at twenty to four we finally got to play our set. We did so with our faces painted white, the result of having our faces painted as skulls and not actually having any time to get the skull parts painted... I guess this is besides the point, we managed to play our best set in a while, and I think we went down fairly well. We were also pronounced "loudest band of the day" which was nice.

Now I'm bored, with nothing to do and nothing to watch.

Mercury Prize

So, klaxons won. And don't they deserve it, what an album. Seen them three times and they are intense, the pic above is from the UEA gig.

And lets be honest, imagine if the view won...

Saturday Night Fever

Finally getting to watch X-Factor... oh yeaa.

Thursday, 30 August 2007

Watched the bourne ultimatum this evening, what an awesome end to the trilogy. And there were like no trailers before... weird. But yeah the film was immense. Then on the way home lcd soundsystem was on the radio, so im going through a bit of an lcd soundsystem marathon at the moment. Almost done both versions of "yeah". They are so good, cant believe I finally got to see them live. They remind me of New York, possibly my favourite place ever (joint with London).

Playing in the dark

Played a very small gig last night, was rather "exclusive". seven people..... was lots of fun though. Unfortunately there are no photos, so I guess that makes it even more exclusive. Hopefully we'll play some more house gigs soon..
